We believe we are the first UK sausage ever to be on sale in Japan, and also that we are the only European Meat Company approved for import of meat products into Japan. This is a considerable achievement. The radiation levels in local Japanese meat post the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster has provided a clear opportunity for those parts of the UK clear of radiation still present after Chernobyl. Our pork is West Country sourced and routine testing has shown it be free of Caesium 137.
As part of our recent machinery upgrade, we can now offer a full range of well presented chubs of speciality sausage meats, stuffings and puddings in time for the Christmas seasonal trade. Shown is our 400g chub in Shelf Ready Packaging.

Our season at Agricutural and county shows is nearing its end. We have sold nearly 30 tonnes of sausages. Cooked some 32,000 sausages as samples and made lots of new friends.
We have started a £500k investment plan. Westaways are already BRC A grade accredited but we are planning even tighter controls on hygiene, handlling and temperatures. As part of this inestment we have installed an additional high speed line capable of producing an extra 2400 packs of our sausages per hour
We were delighted to be the only UK Brand of Sausages to be shortlisted for Britains Best Sausage at the 2011 Meat Management Awards.
Our West Country Pork and Herb sausages are Gluten Free and should be iin the shops in the Autumn

The dry and sunny spell ithat we have enjoyed in April has given a great boost to sales with an all time record week during the month. Sales have come from an excellent Tesco promotion on "Family Packs" with 7.5 times volume uplift,. a deep cut promotion in Makro and very bouyant Export Sales .
The show season has started with a record one day sales at the North Somerset show on the May Bank Holiday, We are now looking forward to Devon County Show, Sherborne , and Bath and West Show in the coming four weeks.

Express did a nice centre page feature on exports with Westaways shown as a case study.
The Minister for UK Trade and Investment visits Westaways, helps sell sausages in Tesco, and hears about plans for their expansion
Westaways were invited to a reception in Downing Street to celebrate the success of UK exporters
Westaways joined the breakfast crew at Riviera Radio in Monaco to present The Full English Breakfast show and support their distributor
Greg Wallace cooked up Sticky Honey and Mustard Pork sausages for MD Charles to promote simple good cooking using British Meat
